Background
In the interview with the human resource assistant manager at Best Foods which is a food processing company, I focused on trying to understand the various issues that concern labor compliance. Mike, the assistant human resource manager, told me that he first started at the firm as a casual worker who worked in packaging before he moved to human resources as a clerk. He has been in human resources for close to 10 years now. It was while Mike was working as a packaging laborer that he started and completed a certification course in human resource management at a local college; later he got certified by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). Mike advises anyone that wished to pursue a career in human resource management that they must be ready to deal with people’s issues; they must be ready to help out people in problems that other people would consider none of their business. However, he said that human resource management is probably the best field for anyone that wishes to deal with people and solve employee problems.
