According to a report from Swinburne University and VicHealth, more than one in 3 young adults between 18 to 25 years suffer from loneliness that affects their mental health.as a result of this loneliness 12% of these young adults are likely to suffer from depression that results from loneliness experiences. 10% of the young adults are affected by social anxiety which results from loneliness experiences. In the novel Nobody (2013), Jennifer Barnes presents a scenario of a girl named Claire who felt so lonely that she even developed a mental condition. Claire was left alone most of the time by her parents which resulted in her developing mental illness. One day when she was alone home a boy named Nix attacked her intending to kill her but she raised alarm. When Claire called the police her parents dismissed her theory arguing she is suffering from mental overactivity.
Social isolation policies strive to investigate and find answers to causes of social isolation I young adult. When the police ordered that Claire should stay indoors with her parents, the issues of loneliness did not end there. In actual sense, Claire was facing an assassination threat, but neither her parents or the police understood her problem. After a few weeks of her being offered attention by her parents who were hardly at home, her mother argued that she needs to get out of the house and consider horse riding. She opted to have cereals for breakfast besides the fact that Claire had prepared eggs for breakfast.
