Mortality Rate of a Specific Region in the United States (Essay Sample)
The assignment was to write a report on the mortality rate of a specific region in the United States and compare it to that of another country. The mortality rate is the number of deaths per 1,000 live births. I was given the following information to work with: Data from 2015 (U.S.) and Mexico, age group newborns at 10 days old: The U.S. has a higher infant mortality rate than Mexico in this age group despite having lower rates overall on both measures over 15 years ago when they were first published. In the United States, there was a significant improvement in infant mortality over time. Nevertheless, which country has a higher mortality rate for this age group remains disputed by experts. Focusing on the cause of death, the majority of deaths in Mexico are due to congenital anomalies or from diseases during infancy ( U.S. 14%), while the number of deaths due to neonatal disorders and respiratory infections is much higher in the U.S..

Mortality Rate of a Specific Region in the United States
2019 was chosen as the year of analysis. Mortality rate, infant (per 1000 lives) was selected for comparison. Lastly, the country selected for comparison is Mexico. The U.S has a mortality rate infant, of 5 deaths for 1000 live births, compared to Mexico, which is higher, at 12 deaths for 1000 live births (The World Bank, 2021). The difference is the U.S.'s health sector's superiority over Mexico's to save new infants born with various complications that could need intervention. For instance, the U.S. has a more advanced, efficient health system that responds to infants' issues immediately after birth, thus saving many from dying. The situation is different in Mexico, where an overburdened health sector, which is relatively less advanced, deals with infants born with a problem.
