Sparking Change Amid Modern Day Crisis: A Reminder to Filipino Youths (Essay Sample)

A Gentle Reminder to my Fellow Filipino Youths
There lays a heavy responsibility on the shoulders of the Filipino youth: the fate of our country. Those who preceded us leave the helm of our island nation for us to take control of—unintentionally accompanied by a host of engine problems we’re left to solve (e.g., global warming, deforestation, economic downturn, inequalities, etc.). Nonetheless, it is the youth’s great aspirations and promising ambitions that will steer the Philippines out of this ditch. That is until they don’t believe in us and try to pry our hands away from the helm; for this, I have a message to my fellow Filipino youths:
There will be those who oppose you for they think the broken boat is better; those who will spite you for being an agent of change; those who will ignore you and your ambitions; but do not allow the callousness of people to break you down before you’re able to build up your nation, lest you allow the nation to break apart alongside you.
I know the adversities the Filipino teen must face is terrifying, especially in today’s political climate. Regularly on the news are reports of activists’ murders and red tagging of individuals who oppose the current way of things (see Mallari et al., 2021). When one statement is the difference between life and
