Genetically Modified Foods is Harmful
Biophysical Science Reasons
Genetically modified foods are created through genetically modified organisms (GMOs) which are a wide-ranging set of plant life, creatures, and microorganisms that are contrived for a widespread assortment of applications fluctuating from agrarian production to scientific investigation. GMFs were created so as to attain abundance in food across the world as there are numerous nations in Africa as well as Asia that continue to experience and suffer from hunger due to famine and food shortage. For this reason, it can be argued that GMFs ought to be embraced. However, these genetically modified foods are harmful in comparison to original food. One biophysical way in which GMFs are harmful in comparison to normal foods is that they have an adverse impact on the biological and physical systems of human beings. For instance, literature shows that Genetically Modified Foods have evidently been spotted with the existence of pesticides that are linked with foods in blood of maternal, fetal as well as women who are not pregnant. This implies that GMFs are worse compared to normal foods for the reason that they have toxicity levels that are high and can affect reproduction levels in women. For instance, in the present day, there are several gynecological illnesses and conditions that are linked with environmental toxins which are yet to be known (Aris and LeBlanc 5). Genetically modified foods adversely impact human beings for the reason that studies reveal that the DNA that is found in genetically modified foods can be transmitted into the human beings who consume them. The DNA that comes from the means consumed by human beings can find theior way into their circulatory systems and this as a result can have negative impacts on their biological system (Najafzadeh and Beryoza 30).
Social Science Reasons
With the development of technologies, new methods to augment the performance of agronomic crops that are used for harvest, fodders as well as processing tenders have been formulated. This as a result has resulted in an increase in the production of large amounts of pharmaceutical seeds and crops. However, one of the reasons why genetically modified foods are bad compared to the original crops is the environmental impact that the crops have (Paparini and Romano-Spica, 2004). Genetically modified crops have a great deal of potential to negatively contaminate the environment and production of such molecules and crops can end up having adverse effects on the environment. This cannot be compared to traditional or original crops which have been planted and consumed from time immemorial devoid of any negative environmental effect. It can therefore be deemed that the traditional foods are much better as compared to genetically modified foods. If such crops or molecules can badly effect the environment such as contaminate the soils then the negative impact of such events can be long lasting and very wide (Schubert 603). It means that it could potentially harm future harvests and plantations when it mixes with the nutrients within the soil.
Mass Media Reasons
A lot has been debated upon the newspaper and published by media outlets regarding GM crops or foods. One thing however is for sure though and that is plenty of Americans are concerned as to whether they are safe. A number of newspapers insist that genetically modified foods bring about better quality foods. It is revealed that through genetically modified crops even animals can be improved to become bigger and grow at a faster rate than normal and in turn brings about a more superior level of productivity and therefore even much economical expenses for the consumer. For instance, cows can be become modified to increase production in milk and become fatter to produce more meat. For this reason, a number of news outlets consider genetically modified crops and foods are the answer to food shortage (Rodale). However, at the same point in time, genetically modified crops and foods also have their own drawbacks and negative aspects. One grave concern is the deliberation whether new disorders or ailments will come up considering the fact that these GM crops make use of DNA that comes from bacteria and also viruses. An article posted by SBS asserted that there are numerous concerns that genetically modified foods can actually bring abou...
