It is absurd that the reasons behind the failure of the Worcester v. George ruling were self-opinionated and extremely selfish of the American-European settlers. The fears of the Georgians and other interested parties in the eastern part of the America were prejudiced because of a difference in culture. The Cherokee nation was just as civilized as the "civilized" Georgians were only that they portrayed it in a different way. The issue of illiteracy, barbarism, and encroachment into more civilized territories were just a matter of perception. By the time the Federal government decided to forcefully remove the Indians the Cherokees were ready to comply to Anglo-American modes of civilization (Sturgis 2007). In other words, it defeated logic to thwart the Worcester v. George ruling considering the Cherokees are among the most civilized people in America.
Therefore, if the Worcester v. George ruling went through, Mr. Ross would have never lost his wife, there would be no "Trail of Tears," and the 4,000 people would have been alive. In addition, the fear that the Cherokees would derail the development in the Eastern part was out of place. If the Cherokees managed to develop their own governing system despite being in a strange land and even constructed institutions of higher learning then they never had to be move from Georgia.
