Introduction
One of the fairly constant characteristics of conventional educational programs is the significant accentuation of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. A direct ramification emanating from this is the relegation of humanities, arts, and social sciences (HASS) subjects. For the most part, the cause of this disproportion in importance is the belief that STEM units possess more practical feasibility than HASS disciplines. While this postulation is not without its merits, HASS subjects deserve as much attention as STEM disciplines because of several reasons.
Stem and Hass Subjects
Firstly, HASS subjects provide the basis on which STEM disciplines operate on. The academic concepts in humanities and social sciences help in creating the conceptual framework necessary to teach STEM subjects. Conventionally, HASS disciplines require students to evaluate the environment, thereby allowing the learners to make better sense of and appreciate the contemporary world. After gaining this new insight, the students can then proceed to define their environment in terms of what they think is most appropriate.
