Macarthur’s Actions in the Korean War should be considered Good Leadership style
On 25 June, 1950 75,000 soldiers from the North Korean People’s Army crossed and invaded the 38th parallel which is the boundary between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(DPRK) to North and the non-communist Republic of Korea to the South (RK). The invasion resulted in the Korean War where the Soviet-backed attacked and overran the RK’s army, and the U.S and it has allied came to the rescue of the Southerners. After a series of rear attacks, the U.S military won their first significant combat through the launching of a water landing at Inchon. The amphibious landing bound the western coast of Korea and struck deep into the North Korea people’s Army causing their advance to stop, and they retreated as the offensive attack ceased. The conflict was about to result in a peaceful solution following the defeat of the North Korean government had the Chinese not later intervened. The mastermind of the victory at Inchon was General Douglas MacArthur, a 70-year old war expert of both World Wars I and II. MacArthur had strengths and shortcomings in his leadership style, and this paper argues whether MacArthur was a good leader or not with a focus on Douglas MacArthur’s controversial relationship with the Harry Truman, who was president at the time.[Roy E.
