Introduction.
Research and evidence both come in handy in informing practice. This essay takes a critical look into how research and evidence are integrates in the professional practice and how these two aspects determine the quality of decisions made by nurses and healthcare practitioners. There are many elements of research that are applicable to professional practice. However, this essay narrows down to investigate and appraise the role of sampling in informing practice on the basis of the two nominated articles. The two articles presented include Wang Z, Wang S, Zhang Y and Jiang X (2019). Social media usage and online professionalism among registered nurses: A cross-sectional survey. International Journal of Nursing studies. 98, 19-26 and Lewis L, Barnes C, Allan J, Roberts L & Lube D (2019) Midwives’ perceptions of women’s mobile phone use and impact on care in birth suite Midwifery. 76 142-147. These two articles address the issue of how social media impacts nursing practice. The first article focuses on how social media use affects online professionalism of registered nurses while the second article focus on how mobile phones affect the perceptions of midwives and how that affects the care in birth suites.
