Equity and Equality
While most people consider the two terms as the same, a critical distinction exists between the two. On one hand, equality implies the treatment of individuals equally regardless of their requirements, objectives and needs. Equity, on the other hand, is more comprehensive in nature. The reason for this is that equality pertains to the fair treatment of all individuals in accordance with their specific prerequisites and needs. This implies that equity, though impartial, requires the different treatment of people with respect to their needs and not necessarily the equal treatment of people.
