With the increasing patient population worldwide, there have been numerous contentions about whether nurses should work overtime. As the healthcare realm grapples with the nursing shortage problem, it becomes inevitable for healthcare organizations to implement mandatory and voluntary overtime to ensure appropriate nurse staffing levels (New York University 2019).
