A Personal Statement with Interest in Equality
As a hotel manager, I have developed excellent leadership skills, integrated best practices in the workplace, and applied theory and concepts acquired in school to provide real-time solutions to organisation and people's challenges. I am applying for a Master's degree program in Human Resource Management in your reputable institution because I want to acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable me to promote a culture of diversity, inclusion, and equality in businesses and organisations. Organisations with inclusion and equity policies can enhance workplace diversity (Olzmann, 2020, 2758). My experience as a hotel manager has leveraged my position to understand the gaps in organisational policies relating to equality and diversity. Therefore, the course will help me to be a change agent as a globally recognised EDI consultant and a hospitality expert with CIPD certification to promote evidence-based strategies essential to building a corporate culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
By studying this course, I wish to become CIPD accredited to enable me to dispense the knowledge learned in the program to solve real-life human resource challenges and gaps, especially about entrenching diversity, equality, and inclusion in organisations. It is vital to balance local and international HR practices by standardising organisational policies and behaviour (Saqib & Khan, 2022). The course will give me a competitive advantage in the hospitality industry by integrating my experience in the hotel industry and human resource background to respond to challenges facing people's development in organisations. Studying human resource management gives individuals competency essential to sustainable practices like providing equal and fair opportunities for employees (Piwowar-Sulej, 2021). As a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in hospitality management with first class honours, the Master's degree program will enhance my understanding of diversity, inclusion and equality integration in organisation policy. Furthermore, my experience in equality, diversity and inclusion consulting, and hotel management have bolstered my interest in people and organisation development, which the Master's program will amplify.
