Interpretations of L&M Concepts
Leadership
There are several interpretations of the concept of leadership in an organizational context. The first one is that leadership is a process through which an individual exerts influence on others within an organization to meet the set objectives (Blomme et al., 2015). Thus, leadership emerges as a process through which a person can direct others in a cohesive and coherent way with the objective of attaining organizational objectives. This interpretation attempts to include all the elements of the organization such as the leaders and the followers.
Secondly, the leadership concept can be interpreted as a social influence process. Under this perspective, the leader maximizes the input and efforts of others towards the attainment of a common goal. Similar to the first interpretation, this perspective presents the idea that there has to be a leader and a set of followers for the concept of leadership to be complete (Filonovich et al., 2018). The achievement of the common objective in this point of view is the measure of the effectiveness and competency of the leader within the organizational context.
