1. Introduction
The purpose of this report is to focus on the GRI Disclosure database and on Timberwell Constructions that is an imaginary organization to find out to what extend Timberwell Constructions has met some particular GRI Disclosures. GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards that is also called as GRI Disclosure database is a set of standards that ask companies to report their sustainability-related activities (Chen et al. 2015). This heavily followed sustainability reporting database was launched in 1997. Since 1997, this database is supported and adhered by some biggest and leading companies around the world (Fuente et al. 2017). By following GRI standards, companies have gained several benefits and community betterment, improved jobs, lesser environmental impacts, reduced forced labor and enhanced gender pay equality are only some of those benefits (Yadlapalli and Rahman 2017). The fictional company Timberwell Constructions is a construction company and is responsible for developing residential buildings. Acts of Timberwell Constructions will be evaluated in this report using Disclosures such as 201-2, 205-3, 206-1, 302-1, 304-2, 307-1, 401-1, 406-1 and 413-1.
2. Economic Sustainability
2.1 Disclosure 201-2
GRI disclosure number of 201-2 mentions that a corporation in any condition must report problems or opportunities that it is experiencing because of any change in the climate (Moratis and Brandt 2017). Issues or opportunities regarding operational changes, changes in the generation of revenue and changes in terms of expenditure must be reported to proper government authorities (GarcÃa-SÃ and Lozano 2017). If this requirement of 201-2 is aligned with the case of Timberwell Constructions, then it can be seen that the organization has taken the right path considering its activities related to its development site located in Stanwell district. Stanwell district is a district where LEP amendment has marked numerous areas that are under the future threat from bushfire. As a result, LEP has implemented policies to ensure these areas are equipped with proper processes to handle bushfires such as larger than normal distances between establishments and land boundaries along with the use of building materials that are fire retarded. However, the issue for Timberwell Constructions due to this change in the climate of Stanwell district is its development facility that is already in that area and does not meet the new LEP amendment policies. As a result, now Timberwell Constructions is going to spend 4 million dollars to ensure it meets the new policies of LEP. On the other hand, the organization has also hired an organization responsible for town planning for $50,000 to ensure its development facility can match the requirements of LEP policies. These additional costs will affect the revenue of Timberwell Constructions and the organization has revealed the same. It means Timberwell Constructions is somewhat following 201-2 disclosure of GRI disclosure database.
