The United States of America is known as the land of the free and home of the brave for several reasons, one of them being its Constitution. The Constitution of the United States of America is one of the key reasons why the United States is considered the ideal country when it realises civil and human rights, in addition to enabling the nation to achieve its status as the perfect democracy. For that reason, the question of emulating the United States Constitution, or at least using it as a template for emerging democracies has emerged. However, one of the most critical areas of success and the reason why this Constitution has been successful in the United States is because of the age of the nation and the numerous amendments it has undergone and so, the template may not be ideal for most emerging democracies. That is, it is critical to be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of this Constitution for emerging democracies to enable them to make informed decisions as to whether or not to adopt the Constitution as a template.
