Concert Report
On April 9th and 10th, 2022, I attended an AUKAHI concert flowing with harmony by 'Ohana, Daniel Ho, and Kumu Hula Keali'i Ceballos. The concert was held at Harold M. Williams Auditorium, and admission was free, although a reservation was required. Kumu Hula Keali'i Ceballos gives a celebration of dance and voice that unleashes and showcases the Hawaiian culture's creative life force. The dynamic program is full of soul-lifting melodies and sacred chants reflecting the modern and ancient eras of music. The concert also featured original music by the Grammy award winner and composer Daniel Ho. Other special guests included Danna Xue and Randy Drake. Kumu captures the spirit of melodic sound and voice through contemporary hula and ancient hula.
Hula Halau is committed to preserving and perpetuating the Hawaii culture through hula dance and traditional and modern music. Playing and making authentic hula instruments and implements gives the artistry of creating conventional Hawaiian crafts and arts.
