Effects of Art on Church in the Renaissance Time
Art is a varied range of activities by man as to making visual or performing artworks in order to express the ideas of the artist. The ideas expressed can be conceptual, imaginative, or technical and are aimed at appreciating the emotional power of the artwork. Art impacts the daily lives of individuals, and as well, had a significant effect on the church during the renaissance time.
In the renaissance period, images improved the belief of the faithful both as a society and individual devotion. For example, during the time of Pope Gregory the Great, Art was used as learning tools for the unwritten, and to facilitate worship (Burn, 43). Images depicting the life of Christ were therefore much preferred in churches and painted altars. As well these images were valued to be in portable forms such as books for private use by individuals. This way, individual devotions were made more accessible.
