Does Parental "Tough Love" Really Work?
Tough parental love may be viewed as the sternness and aggressiveness in parents towards the behavioral problems with a fundamental objective of making their children to develop into good human beings, (Kjørstad, 630-639). Even though parents’ actions towards their children’s’ bad behaviors may at times be viewed as being unkind to the children, it ought to be noted that this act is mostly aimed at correcting the child and making them to adapt to reasonable behaviors and attitudes so that they may become good people in the future (Kjørstad, 638). In instance, a parent may make a decision of withholding his/her child’s leisure opportunities until the child improves his/her grade at school. In some cases, however, parents may cease all the financial assistance to their children in is some way; the children are drug addicts until some change is seen in them or until such like children realize the need to find help at a correctional facility or at a rehabilitation center.
