Social institutions globally have witnessed a rampant increase in the consumption of drugs and alcohol. Drug abuse has become such a grievous scandal in the country that the government has implemented numerous measures to curb its spread. Research has demonstrated without a doubt that the causative factors behind rampant alcohol and drug abuse include family problems, crime, delinquency, and mental issues. Issues of drug abuse have impacted the youth negatively owing to a combination of the issues as mentioned above. The most popular drugs consumed by the youth comprise of marijuana, cocaine, heroin, tobacco, and pain killers. Research on the social dynamics of the drug abuse indicates that the youth indulge in drugs because of peer pressure.
