How Wolves Help
Wolves help to revitalize and restore ecosystems (“How Wolves Help”). Without a proper wolf population, an ecosystem’s balance is distorted. Wolves influence the ecosystem’s population and the way other animals move around the ecosystem, by foraging patterns. One example of the benefits what wolf population has over an ecosystem, is the Yellowstone National Park transformation upon their arrival.
Firstly, when wolves were introduced to the Yellowstone National Park, the beaver population increased. The advantages of a growing beaver population have been passed down to the rest of the ecosystem. When beavers build dams and ponds, they provide shaded water for the fish. Moreover, beavers help to create conducive conditions for the willow stands to grow, which in turn are a habitat to different bird species.
