Literature Analysis
This paper will be a literature analysis of an article from the New York Times. The article is concerns research on babies and is called, “What Babies Know About their Bodies and Themselves”. It was a piece done by PerriKlass and was published on July 9th 2018. This will be a quick summary and evaluation of the article, making use of necessary literary tools like SOAP. The paper will conclude with my personal opinion concerning the article.
Summary
The article focuses on the research work done on babies to try and determine how their brain activities function in response to their body sensors such as touch. People have been known to wonder on what goes on in a baby’s mind, but, according to Dr. Meltzoff touch is the very first method of communication that a baby understands even at birth. Andrew Meltzoff, who is also the co-director in the Learning and Brain sciences institute at the University of Washington, authored a study on how 60 –day – old infant babies responded to touch. Peter J. Marshal, a co-author of the study also explains how little is known concerning a human body’s response to touch develops. According to the articles, these researchers placed sensor caps on baby’s heads which help monitor their brain activities as their bodies were stimulated through touch (Perri).
