The Positive Impacts of Reading Books
Reading brings forth the hidden talents of a person which helps in shaping an individual’s view of life. People read for various reasons: to some, perusing through the pages of a book is a mandatory activity demanded by teachers or guardians. To others, reading is fun: an opportunity for one to escape the real world and experience virtual reality for a given period. Regardless of the reason, reading promotes mental stimulation and makes it possible for individuals to focus on what is important. Books are simply highways of information and can play a major role in influencing a person’s perception of the world (Shabazz 21). For both children and the older generation, reading helps to maintain a sharp focus, enable creativity, and promote empathy among the readers. Individuals who engage in reading a lot have a better way of handling difficulties in comparison to their counterparts who do not consider reading as an integral part of life. Malcolm X and Sherman Alexis are true examples of how spending time reading can help in shaping one’s view of the world while enhancing the identity and potential of the booklover.
