Managerial decision making is a crucial tool for modern management. It is regarded as the prime function of management in any organization. An organizational manager’s rational decisions are essential in ensuring that the organizational actions are in line with the mission and goals of the operation. Therefore, it is an endless process in management. In addition, decision making is characterized by making best choices from two or more alternatives. A manager has to weigh different ideas and make the best decision among the alternatives. Decision making in management has myriad benefits for an organization.
Firstly, effective managerial decision making in an organization propels proper resource utilization. Strategic decisions made by the top-level management ensure that there is proper functioning of an organization (Akrani). Improper decision making means that an organization will run inefficiently and any available resources will be inadequately utilized.
