Troy Maxson
It is remarkable how persistently the issue of race and the problems that people of color experience exist in American society. Subsequently, August Wilson's 1985 book Fences perfectly captures the agony of the African American society. The leader of an African American household, Troy Maxson, and their multidimensional ties are extensively explored in the narrative. Despite being shown as a flawed individual, Troy is eventually redeemed. He is not, however, saved by his own deeds. As he dies away, his relative's and friends' forgiveness serves to redeem him. Troy Maxson thus represents the African American experience of explicit structural racism and the worries and internal struggles that culture brings with it.
Observing Troy's development in Fences, one will see that his character evolved as he was routinely denied the opportunity for individual actualization and contentment in the societal structure. He can therefore be seen as a victim on a variety of levels. Racism undoubtedly has a role in this situation. Due to his racial identification, Troy has been unable to pursue his baseball goals. Troy has been deprived of the chance to participate in the baseball league at the very start of the book, which makes the reader understand the extent of the unfairness. Troy understands his professional future is also jeopardized as his personal story develops. His heritage and culture have a significant role in this. “All I want them to do is change the job description. Give everybody a chance to drive the truck” (Wilson, 3). Troy's persona is progressively alienated and exiled from every sphere where the predominant Euro-American civilization dominates as the readers follow Troy's story.
It would be kind to refer to Troy Maxson as an individual who made errors in his individual and social life. However, the goal when designing the role was not to provide a perfect representation of an African American and their household. Instead, Troy illustrates African Americans' anguish by demonstrating how racial discrimination and systemic oppression can ruin a person's life. Unforgettably, Troy lost the honor, reverence, and even love that his relatives and friends formerly accorded him. His insatiable self-serving ambitions are the fuel that destroys away the life he once enjoyed. He may well have experienced brief delight by cheating on Rose with Alberta, but in the long term, Rose suffered more as a result (Wilson 5). Naturally, other individuals are affected by this suffering, and as a r
