Self-reflection essay
To be successful in life, it is paramount to understand oneself. I will analyze what is right or wrong in my opinion. In my life in this school as a student’s leader, and also a typical student with general life experiences that helped understand my personality. As my duty entails interacting with various students and also my friends, I can point out what is right and what is wrong while interacting with the students. I have an SP personality type according to Meyers-Briggs, (Salvit Np). What I do best is negotiating for my fellow student's rights and passing information to the students. I have developed good communication skills to both teachers and students. I can express my needs and those of my comrades appropriately. Through these excellent communication skills, I can solve issues among my fellow students with wisdom. Despite this ability, I also have some shortcomings with myself. My organization is quite poor and am impatient while performing my duty. Being a student’s leader, I should be smart on how I pass the message to the student to avoid issues of misunderstanding. For example, an incident whereby I just got the information to my comrades carelessly and impatiently without waiting for the administration to respond that led to misunderstanding in the whole institution. From this incident, I learned that to improve my personality I have to understand other people’s point of view and the consequences of the actions I take. I learned this the hard way.
I was born in a family of three as the first born. In my tender age, my parents always wanted me to look after my younger siblings especially when they are away. This made me angry by then, but later I came to understand my source of SP personality. This was from the compromise and understanding nature of our relationship with my siblings especially in the absence of our parents.
This did not end up at home; I remember my first day at junior high school. As I was getting into my first grade, I meet these two young boys who were tussling and tossing each other like were ready for a fight. I instantaneously knew it was wrong and hurriedly approached the. I tapped one of them so seemed angrier than the other and offered him my latest copy of Star Trek graphic novel. As soon as he saw it, he forgot he was in a fight and we sat together discussing the graphic novel and that day I made a friend who we have such together since then.
My personality as an SP personality has a flip side, the risk-taking side of me has landed my friends and I in trouble more times than I can count. An example of such a situation is a few years ago when a couple of friends of mine and I decided to take a road trip. I was the designated driver. I had already purchased a map to show the route I would follow. The first part of the journey was smooth and fun all through. Soon the darkness fell, and all my friends were tired and passed out in their seats; I decided to take a detour on a route that to be a shortcut.
