Social media platforms such as Tumbler, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter have characterized contemporary world forms of expressions and communication. The propagation of the internet has led to the rapid growth of social media usage. The increase in numbers of social media usage has sparked a debate about whether it has a positive or negative impact in the society, especially to the younger generation. Social media plays a significant role in promoting long-distance relationship and interactions among people. However, social media has adverse effects such as addiction and invasion of privacy. Teenagers form a majority of social media users. Consequently, it is crucial for parents to know the positive and negative side of social media. Social media has a combination of both good and bad sides.
