Should Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) Be Used in education
Introduction
Technology advancement is inevitable, and toward keeping up to date with it, the education sector has embraced virtual reality as a tool to pass information through the use of oculus rift in taking students into virtual fields such as museums and the solar system. This technology has also seen much acceptance in schools that deals with a student who has special needs. In Australia, virtual reality has been used to perform a therapeutically exercise for the students with autistic disorder. Augmented reality, on the other hand, is an inactive real-world experience. In augmented reality objects residing in the real world are through computer-generated information and in most cases through multiple sensory modalities which include auditory, haptic and olfactory. This visual information can either have addictive effects or destructive ones. My take is that mixed reality of virtual and augmented reality should be used in in the education sector, to help students to be more productive through collaborating with teachers and colleges to work as a team, and also this mixed reality enhances memory development in a student (Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality Used in Education, 12)
