Streetcar Named Desire is one of the most magnificent work of literature that is based on fiction. With the play’s many elements that accredit its worthiness, some are well dated while others remain timeless. One of the well-dated components of the play is its stage productions. For instance, the play that is an original Broadway production was opened in Ethel Barrymore Theatre on 3rd December 1947. This is the same year that the playwright Tennessee Williams wrote the play. By 17th December 1949, the play was closed for the audience at Ethel Barrymore Theatre. The London production was opened immediately after closure of Ethel Barrymore production where new characters were involved in the play.
However, the plot of the play remains timeless. Though Williams keenly designs the settings of the story to spark emotions of the pivotal scene such as a high temperature to reflect the tension between Blanche and Stanley, the actions remain timeless. For instance, the play does not reveal the exact time when Blanche lost her family home, which compelled her to move into her younger sisters home.
