Why Drinking Age Should Be Raised To 25
Universally, 18 is recognized as the legal age where one becomes an adult, so they begin to take up several responsibilities and freedom, including the right to vote and drink alcohol. Proponents of lowering the drinking age argue that individuals ages 18 and above are mentally and emotionally capable of making their own decisions and should, therefore, be allowed to drink. Supporters of raising the drinking age argue that underage drinking is a serious public health concern. This paper will discuss that the legal drinking age should be raised to 25 because to improve responsible drinking in young adults. The evidence of the benefits of increasing the drinking age to 25 is sufficient- it makes it difficult for young people to access alcohol and reduces alcohol-related problems.
Drinking age should be raised to 25 to reduce the consequences of underage drinking. Researchers suggest that the majority of alcohol abusers begin to experiment in their teenage years. By the age of 18, they engage in binge drinking as a result of peer pressure and poor impulse control. Drinking alcohol in young adults may lead to brain damage later in life, assault, and irresponsible sexual activity.
