American Health Essay
The American society faces problems revolving on health as most of its citizens suffer from poor eating habits and lack of exercise. The need for Americans to realize the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Many Americans spend less on recreation as they spend more on buying junk. The number of people suffering from obesity in America is higher than that suffering from cardiovascular related diseases. America’s big problems largely depend on health.
More and more Americans spend less of recreation. The number of American spending money on recreation activities has decreased over the years. Americans venture into purchasing luxury products such as cars. It is hard to find people purchase bicycles. The average Americans spend more time driving than walking. Riding bicycles have become a thing of the past. The purchase of sport clothing has also reduced as the percentage of individuals interested in engaging in sporting activities. The purchase of athletic equipment has reduced with more individuals less interested in making sporting activities a lifestyle. It is evident that Americans are becoming less active in recreation.
Fast food marketing has become relentless in America and the Americans love it. The rate of fast food ads has increased with marketers making big sales on display the ads. An increase in advertising means that the number of people interested in the products is high. McDonalds and Burger King have increased the marketing for fast foods for children. Children only purchase products through their parents. This is a direct interpretation of the number of parents willing to purchase fast foods for their parents. Such large companies providing advertisements for children’s products indicates how the health habits of America have changed with many opting to purchase fast foods to healthy foods. Promoting of children’s products has increased meaning the number of children growing up feeding of fast foods has increased. Making the move to decrease the number of individuals feeding on the fast food has decreased as parents feel that feeding their children on fast food means awarding them.
Americans need to understand that soft drinks are unhealthy. The consumption of soft drinks has replaced water intake. The number of people who consume water in America has reduced . Manufactures of soft drinks have increased the bottle size. This only increases the problem as it means that many consume empty calories.
