Since time immemorial, the society has lived with the notion that narcotic drugs are unsuitable for one’s health. From the time people are young, no one really comprehends the logic behind this pernicious notion. Sometimes, the public finds itself abiding by the directives from the authorities to shun the use of a certain drug, not because it is bad, but because the laws merely dictate otherwise. Nonetheless, as people grow and develop into autonomous individuals, they start to challenge the existing authorities and even engage in research activities to ascertain the authenticity of some restrictions on the usage of some drugs. The bid to legalize cannabis Sativa has been a controversial subject for decades, especially in the United States. While several states have resolved to eliminate restrictions on the usage of the drug, there are those which are still adamant in flexing their stand about it. Although there have been a plethora of heresies concerning the adverse impacts of using marijuana, many individuals in the contemporary world have gradually been confirming that indeed the merits of using marijuana outweigh the demerits. A series of studies can proof that the drug constitutes several benefits not only to the health of the users but also in proliferating the country's economy, not forgetting the decrease in the rate of crimes, especially among the juvenile offenders. These are among the many reasons why the benefits of medical marijuana boldly justify its legality, for it can be instrumental in adding value to the society in several ways.
For a long time, the society has been hesitant to acknowledge the reality about the marijuana possessing numerous medicinal profits. However, as time goes, augmented scientific innovations and experimentations have revealed the veracity regarding the drug, which people have an obligation to accept and embrace. The health benefits of this drug are various and distinctive. In the attempt of unraveling the mystery about certain perplexing ailments such as glaucoma, diabetes, and cancer, the medical practitioners have ended up prescribing marijuana to patients and surprisingly, the outcomes have always been fruitful (Szumski and Karson 39).
