The term organic food refers to food that has more nutrients, like antioxidants which promote healthier lifestyle compared to regular food which may contain more toxic metals CITATION Jan17 \p 11 \l 1033 (Brett 11). Organic food is becoming more popular as time goes by. This is an aspect that can be attributed to the ideologies of American consumers, as well health and safety concerns.
Organic food contains lower amounts of pesticide. In American Supermarkets there are numerous brands of bread, cereal, and milk, all tasting unnatural most of the time CITATION Raj14 \p 43 \l 1033 (Patel 43). This is due to the high levels of chemicals that have been used in firms and processing of these foods. The chemicals including herbicides which are used on food produce more often than not leaves residue on the food that we eat. This is why Americans need to embrace organic food which has fewer health concerns.
Organic food farming is more environment-friendly. It helps to avoid soil erosion and contamination of underground water which is absorbed by the plants CITATION Jan17 \p 16 \l 1033 (Brett 16). Planting without the use of chemicals reduces the health concern to people and animals that live near the farm. Such health concerns may include Cancer.
More importantly, organic food does not contain GMOs. While there are natural foods on our menu, the industry adds thousands more of unnatural foods to supermarket shelves hence making them indispensable CITATION Raj14 \p 65 \l 1033 (Patel 65).
