Museum of Mental Health
Museum of mental health is about the use of art to help the healing of the mentally ill. It not only heals the psychiatric patients, but also helps people’s mental health intact. It is majorly the theories and models used to help these patients. Many models are used such as the Sigmund Freud Museum CITATION The14 \l 1033 (Theray) and the Oregon State Hospital Museum of Mental Health. These are some of the institutions that are set up in order to help the mentally ill. Such organizations are non-profit. One of the theories that can be applied is the group therapy.
Group therapy is one of the theories that can be applied to help the psychiatric patients. It brings people with similar cases together in order to enhance their healing. Through group therapy clients do not feel alone, they get support from the group members. There should be one or two specialized therapists in the group to help the patients. Group therapy is used along with medication for the mentally ill. Individual therapy should be taken up alongside the group therapy. The therapist assigned that particular group is supposed to lead the discussion. The group works towards a goal. The goal is set by the group members according to their needs. This can be especially useful for the patients suffering from depression. The sessions take up two hours CITATION Gro18 \l 1033 (GroupTherapy). Group therapy takes a number of months, according to the kind of case that is being handled. It will take long as the patients achieve their set goals.
Interactive element are divided into seven categories. Passive interactivity is the first level. It is the most basic one. The user first presses of a button that leads him or her to the next part of the sequence. The plan is already set up, hence the user can hardly choose a different route other the one that is set up. Use of this level can cause dullness. Passive interactivity is followed by the second category which is called the hierarchical interactivity. Hierarchical interactivity is simply a different version of the passive level, though it might seem complicated at first. This category involves the connection between different menus of the computer. Once a user opens a menu he chooses an item and then decides on the key to press. Once there is a route to be followed up it becomes a passive interactive level CITATION Ahl13 \l 1033 (Ahlamo).
Update Interactivity category is the third one. This is a developmental level of communication between the user and the computer. This interaction is predetermined by the kind of answers a user feeds to the computer. The computer can differentiate between a right and a wrong answer. It responds according to the last kind of information that it was fed with. Update interactivity is followed by the fourth category called Construct Interactivity. This stage is about choosing the correct and the wrong item before the machine gives feedback on the final result. For example, when a computer registers an email there are different sets of information to be fed before the computer approves it. The user has the chance to choose or change the information being fed in CITATION Ahl13 \l 1033 (Ahlamo).
Level five is the Stimulation Interactivity. It is highly connected to the level four which is the construct interactivity. The only controversial thing between the two is how the different parts can be brought out correctly. Level five has more options for instance, instead of having “yes and no” options it can have options like” more likely, possible and a little bit”. It has different valves to bring out the most accurate information from the user CITATION Ahl13 \l 1033 (Ahlamo).
Category six is called the Free interactivity. This point has no set routes, but is not complicated. The use of links helps achieve the correct answers needed by the computer. The links are provided to lead to the information required. Free interactivity is then followed by the last stage, but not least which is called the Situate Interactivity. At Situate Interactivity the user is able to relate well with the computer. It provides an idea that leads to a reality that is being sorted CITATION Ahl13 \l 1033 (Ahlamo).
Different elements are used in an exhibition in order to affect the design. Design principles are also implemented in the exhibition to bring out the best. Narratives are used in an exhibition. They are effective in pushing for meditation and reflection among the individuals. They are divided into the personal and experts narratives. The interactions bring about discussions which increase the knowledge level as well as expertise. Interacting with experts helps visitors understand more about the information being exhibited CITATION Sky16 \l 1033 (Skydsgaard). Narratives are also a way of communicating. Museums make use of narratives to spell out their story since use of just the art might be inadequate in explaining everything. Use of narratives helps to support the crucial art and models that are being displayed CITATION Nap10 \l 1033 (Naparat).
Participation is also employed in the exhibition for enhancement. It is brought out as the interaction with the items exhibited and the dialogues with the visitors. Participation helps in the exchange of ideas among the visitors and the people doing the exhibitions CITATION Sky16 \l 1033 (Skydsgaard). The active engagement helps the interactions between the visitors and the participants and therefore expanding the levels of knowledge for the visitors and the participants. Participation also opens up doors for the visitors to attain connections with the right people and use it to enhance their own institutions. Use of participation helps also develop discussions and therefore help school children, for instance to learn a number of things if they visit.
Designing is the role the client took up. A designer has various roles in the exhibition plan. They get a design for the layout of the exhibits. The designer should also come up with photos, sketches and drawings that capture attention. The display of the items in the exhibition is also determined by the designer. Labeling is done by designers. They label all the particular items according to time and age. They also label in terms of how crucial the particular items are. Designers also are expected to participate in other activities. They should help other team members in completing the project. Self-evaluation is also a role of the designer. One is expected to check where they have gone wrong and correct before the deadlines. It is also the role of every team member to ensure they have filled the log book often CITATION Mus18 \l 1033 (MuseumVictoria). Being a designer requires taking up different responsibilities.
The designers are supposed to be publicists as well. As they conduct researches on how to promote the exhibition they require to be very creative and smart. They need to focus on areas that are actually more crucial. They should also be to cooperate with the assigned publicist to deliver the best information designing it in a way that it reaches everybody. All the communities and people are expected to receive the information. The information designed should be able to take the attention of all people receiving it. Mediums such as the radio and the television as well as publishing of newspapers is the way to deliver that particular information. As the newspapers are being published, the designers should take part and ensure that the headlines are well designed and the images that are used are clear and attractive in order to capture the attention of the readers. With this the museum is promoted. The catering services are also something the designers contribute with. The arranging of the tables and the preparation of the f...
