National Cancer Moonshot Initiative
The National Cancer Moonshot initiative is an undertaking that aims to bring together the best and brightest scientific minds in the country as well as beyond the country to accelerate the research and availability of cures for cancer. In his 2016 State of the Union address, President Obama called on Vice President Joe Bidden to help make the U.S the country that develops a cure for cancer. The initiative is aimed at ending the harrowing statistics of cancer, where billions of dollars have been pumped into cancer research and the results of this is that half of American men and a third of American women will receive a cancer diagnosis in their life-time (Collins).
