Japan as a nation experienced an economic miracle which had never been seen in this country before. This economic miracle took place between post world war II and the end of cold war (McClain, James, 563). During this period, Japan’s economy grew and became the second after the United States. Such tremendous changes make leads to answering the following questions.
1. What measures did the Japanese government take to propel Japan into a period of affluence?
There are many theories which have come up trying to explain what Japan did so that they experienced affluence in their economy (Huffman, James, 160). It is, however, true those such drastic changes were as the result of having a powerful central government bureaucracy which led to an economic rise in Japan. Another measure is that many civil servants in different ministries such as international trade and industry ensured that they worked so much closer with the business people (Pilling, David, 86). This allowed them to discuss the strategic plans which will lead to economic development and which will give the nation direction on how to advance financially and through industries (McClain, James, 570). The government of Japan working hand in hand with the business community implemented a correct industrial policy which led to the rising of industrial sectors such as an automobile. This policy also reduced the moribund one such as mining which led to an export economy. They were able to reach to international markets through their exports
