The aftermath of the Pearl Harbor
Before the Pearl Harbor attack, America was a highly galvanized and divided country as far as joining the war was concerned. The congress, for instance, could not agree on what to do when it came to this contentious topic. However, a little over 2400 Americans dead was enough to jolt everyone out of their summer slumber. Overnight, all the Americans were united behind President Franklin D. Roosevelt against the Japanese empire, and that is how America joined the war. The congress unanimously voted yes on request from President Franklin, and that is how the United States declared war on Japan.
Effects of WWII
World War II affected more than just the life of the soldiers who went to fight the war. The Americans were affected in a number of times ranging from the workforce all through to the economy. To the families of the soldiers who were directly on the ground, death, deprivation, and depression were some of the issues they had to deal with. However, to other Americans, WWII came with a positive effect on the US economy as through increased government spending, prosperity and economic growth were some of the post-war realities.
