The American Civil War
Throughout American history, no other event has had a significant impact on American society than the civil war. The traumatic experience claimed the lives of more than 62 thousand soldiers and 2% of the American population. Thus, at the end of the war, the country was in a chaotic state and required a stable central government. The nation experienced economic depression and political turmoil and was only held together by the jack Dickson article on confederation written in 1777. After the war, the US president Ulysses S (Lischer, & Sarah). Grant was hailed as a military genius who engineered the victory of the civil war. He was regarded for his prowess, which led to a successful democratic government and the emancipation of numerous slaves. Thus, a central government was created from the ashes of slavery as required by the consequences of the civil war and progress of the American nation.
