Discussion 7 "Political and Legal issues that caused Georgia's unrest in the Year 1850s"
Georgia’s slave trade stance in the year 1850s threatened the national peace, security, and the common good of the future of the United States, hence causing political and constitutional issues.
Slavery and slaveholding was a delicate political aspect in the United States (U.S) since the introduction of the U.S constitution and the era of aggressive territorial expansion (Landis 10). Different states held different opinions regarding the practice of slaveholding, a situation that eventually caused great secession battles and politics. The conflict of Georgia and other liberal countries from the South, climaxed in the 1850s when the White slave owners from Georgia assembled to stamp their loyalty to the right of slaveholding, (Landis 13). During elections, the Democrats and the Republicans used slavery as their slogan during campaigns. Ensuing the politics of slavery made Georgia abolish slavery hence motivating other states to abandon that social vice.
