In human beings, the knee joins the leg with the thigh. Additionally, the knee joint is made up of two joints: the first is the tibio-femoral joint while the second is the patellofemoral joint. As a compound joint, the knee is the largest joint in the human body, allowing flexion and extension as well as external and internal rotation. Injuries of the knees are common.
