Employment Termination
The termination does not meet the principles described in the chapter. One of the principles from the chapter is the exit interview. It is appropriate to organize an "exit interview – a meeting of the departing employee with the employee's supervisor and human resource specialist to discuss the employee's reason for leaving" (Noe et al. 361). The exit meeting's importance is to ensure that employees have full disclosure of the employment termination. It is paramount for the human resource department to listen to the employees' grievances and respond without any ambiguities. Evidently, the clarification lacks in the case since employees are not aware if they will be compensated. Another reason for having an exit interview is ensuring that the company can easily regain its employees when the situation changes. As Noe et al. note, "replacing workers is expensive, and new employees need time to learn their jobs and build teamwork skills" (339).
