Religion has been passed from generation to generation where we learn more about God. The Bible is used as a reference book to explain more about God for Christians and the Quran for the Muslims. These Holy books are used to guide us on how we are supposed to live according to God ways. Western culture has invaded our generation, and it has influenced a majority of people in the world. Gossip and non-educational material are the topics of discussion in these social media. These media has made people drift away from religion and God. Well if a young person were asked the last time they prayed or went to church they would probably not have the answer but if you asked them what Kanye West wore the previous day they would spit it out quickly with no hesitation.[CITATION Iwa12 \l 1033 (Iwamura, 2012). Young people have gotten addicted to this devices, and with them, they just use the tools to check up what others are doing, especially celebrity gossip which according to research is the most studied thing in the world. The young generation will grow up following this popular culture rather than the religion they are supposed to believe in. Popular culture is said to be always changing in through fashion and arts, movies and music.
Technology has also changed Religion. The Bible has been translated into different languages to allow the non-educated people to learn more about God. There has been a mobile application of the Bible where Christian can access the Holy book on their mobile phones. There has been some Christian website which gives pieces of advice to Christian. The television has Christian movies and Christian programs. Some churches have installed WIFI for their congregation to make increase their interest in church.[CITATION Jef09 \l 1033 (Mahan, 2009) Popular culture is said to be always changing in through fashion and arts, movies and music]
Celebrities have played a major role in the influencing religion. Some celebrities have used imagery of religion in their music video many of them we do not know what they mean. The majority of the movies even allow some of the characters to play God without looking at the consequences and the damage cause to young people who are still learning about God. Some of the celebrities do not believe in God they believe in science since they believe God does not exist. They believe science explains everything that happens in the world. These influential people play a role in diminishing religion. They have no idea how the young people get affected. Young people who went to Sunday school or church get so many challenges as they try to understand the world. They are taught about Good in church while in school, they are introduced to science and other subjects which tend to explain the world. They look for references where they can base their argument on. The sources are readily available on the internet hence they start doing their research. The internet is full of scam sites, cults, and other non-religious movements. The young people can believe anything they observe on the web. The cults and other non-religious movements can easily convince the young people to join the flow by a simple registration on their site.[CITATION Pet04 \l 1033 (Peterson, 2009) The young people can believe anything they observe on the web.
