Political and constitutional issues in the U.S
Introduction
The issue of slavery, civil war and the interpretation of federal against state powers were the main constitutional and political issues that indicated Georgia's unrest as a member of the United States during the1850s. The issue of slavery and denial of political union ignited heated tensions in the region. Georgia's white population believed that slavery was crucial to its economic growth and was unwilling to abandon it. Consequently, Georgia did not comply with decisions from the senate, compelling all slave owners to free their subjects. This paper discusses the constitutional and political issues that threatened Georgia's membership as a member of the United States of America.
