Government and Healthcare
It is widely known that unlike other developed nations, the United States of America does not have a single healthcare system but on the contrary, operates on a market-based system that enables Americans to access healthcare services. The current issue being debated by policymakers is the question of whether the single-payer system should or should not be adopted in the nation. The system is believed to interfere with the freedom of the American people, cause delays in care, and discrimination in the care of individuals. The single-payer system is also thought to result in tax increments and a decrease in payments made to medical professionals (Vielkind). Therefore, this paper will provide solutions to the problem by considering the role played by the different branches and levels of government.
