What is race?
Philosophers and anthropologists first developed the word race during the 18th century. They used skin complexion and geographical location to group individuals in various racial clusters. The incidence resulted in the idea that due to the groupings, some people are superior to others because of their skin color and geographical location. Therefore, race refers to a social structure related to features that individuals and groupings develop. People have used the terms race and ethnicity interchangeably, with many unable to identify them (Guerrero, Lopez-Cortes, Indacochea, Garcia-Cardens, Zambrano, Cabrera-Andrade, Guevara-Rairez, Gonzalez, Leone, Paz-yMino 1).
