Abortion is the extermination of a pregnancy by removing the embryo or fetus from the uterus before it has developed any abilities to survive outside it. The procedure can be done at any time during the pregnancy but with more risk on the mother towards the third trimester. In recent years in the United States, abortion has become one of the most heated debates among women and men. leading to the rise of the pro-choice and pro-life movements, both with great numbers of supporters, aiming to change the laws of abortion in opposite directions.
