Harvesting water from air
With a severe water scarcity all around the world, scientists have been working around the clock to come up with ways in which will be used to curb this water shortage problem which is a result of a growing population. A collaboration of scientists from the University of California and MIT have devised a way which can and is used to obtain water from the moist air just anywhere in the world even the driest regions where people go for longer periods without clean water and have to travel long distances just to get clean water. Compared to this method of water harvesting water is fog harvesting which requires 100% water saturation in the air and can only be used in some parts of the world therefore not really practical to the water scarcity.
The second one is dew harvesting, which involves cooling surfaces in order to allow water to condense on it but also, this method, cannot be used in regions with humidity below 50% and also it uses a lot of energy to keep these surfaces cool making its operations expensive. Therefore, harvesting water from the air is way much practical and very inexpensive on saving money and time because it does not have all these limitations because all you need is just sunlight compared to harvesting water from fog and also from dew.
