ABSTRACT
This reports analyses Body Mass Index (BMI) data for a sample of 40 men and 40 women. Histograms have been presented in order to assess the distribution pattern of the sample. The combined male and female distribution indicates a normal distribution. However, the female BMI distribution alone does not indicate a normal distribution. Normal Q-Q plots of the BMI values have been used to confirm the findings. An independent sample T test has also been used to demonstrate that there is no significant difference between the male and female BMI values.
Keywords: BMI, histogram, male-female BMI.

Comparison of the difference between the BMI of Men and Women
This report provides a summary of an exploratory data analysis comparing the Body Mass Index (BMI) of men to that of women from a selected sample 40 men and 40 women. The data set has been obtained from National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). In order to find out various elements of data such as distribution, center, variation and outliers it is imperative to generate histograms, Q-Q plots and perform further statistical tests (Triola & Triola, 2006). This process is highlighted in the following sections.
Methods
The sample is made up of 40 men and 40 women representing a 50:50 composition. This is shown in the table below:
