Research hypothesis: Cabbages, carrots and garlic seeds are not allelopathic
Abstract
Plants produces chemicals that may have effects on other plants directly or indirectly. This phenomenon can be investigated experimentally in the lab to determine whether the allelochemicals produced by one plant has an effect on others. This paper focuses on the effects of allelochemicals produced by different vegetables on germination and growth of radish seeds. All the necessary germination and growth conditions for the radish seeds were provided. The vegetable whose allelopathic effects is to be tested were used to treat the radish seed while the seeds in the control experiment remained untreated. The results shows a disparity of germination and growth of the treated and untreated radish seeds. The conclusion to this matter is that the vegetables seeds used has an allelopathic effect on the germination and growth of the radish seeds.
