Marie is a first time mother who gave birth to a girl named Nicole, who at present is 10 weeks old. At the time she was visiting the hospital, she complained of having challenges coping with her daughter, feeling sad, and being upset at all times. She also complained of feeling that she was inadequate as a mother. In fact, she mentioned that she felt she was a bad mother. The sadness, difficulty to cope with her daughter, being upset at all times, and the feeling of being a bad mother have drove her to post-partum major depressive disorder that is of moderate intensity CITATION Joh19 \l 1033 (Johans, Robakis, Williams, & Rasgon, 2019). She has been experiencing these symptoms for a period of ten weeks, beginning from the day she gave birth to Nicole.

Issue:
Marie is suffering from guilt at an individual level that is making her isolate socially not only from her daughter but also from her husband, Ron and her mother.
Goal:
To recover her sense of self-worth, rebuild her self-esteem, and facilitate her in recovering her ability to carry on the daily activities of living as she would have expected after delivery CITATION Ear19 \l 1033 (Earls, Yogman, Mattson, & Rafferty, 2019).
HONOS Score 4 for the depressed mood.

The nurse in collaboration with the Marie and her family identified several strengths that are key in developing a care plan for her. These strengths include:
A strong support system in her life in the form of her husband, Ron, and her mother. Despite the ordeal that she has been through over the past ten weeks, her baby has been taken good care of, and chores done.
Marie has no history of any maladaptive behaviors, and had a normal childhood indicating a lesser likelihood that her condition may have been associated with her upbringing.
