The theory on social learning proposed by Bandura Albert emphasizes the vital role of modeling, observation, and imitation of others' attitudes, mannerism, and emotional reactions. This theory recognizes both the cognitive and environmental factors that influence human behavior and interactive learning. The theory can be applied in the analysis of the character Riley in the film Inside Out.
The family film “Inside Out” is a fun-filled film that has an important symbolic message on mental health problems among young people. The film tells a story of a young girl aged 11 called Riley and how various emotions rule her conscience. Fear, anger, joy, sadness, and disgusts all live in the mind of Riley. These emotions take turns to control her reactions and emotions as per the situations around her. A child at the age of eleven is physically and emotionally experiencing many changes, such as starting secondary school and transforming from being among the oldest in school to being the youngest. Her parents ensure that Riley is happy and has positive memories in her mind that outweigh the negative ones. It is until Riley's parents tell her that they have to move to San Francisco, which marks the start of a load of new and confusing situations, that she has to react. She feels that leaving to San Francisco is all about breaking away from the attachments he had earlier formed into another new place with no attachment. Attachment can come in the form of places, profiles, and things that all substantially affect a child’s development patterns all through life.
Also, we can apply Piaget’s Cognitive Development theory in this film. Paige’s theory recognizes that children’s mental and emotional state is quite simple but at the same time different from adults. The theorist posits that a child’s life inv
